CONCEALED CARRY AND HOME DEFENSE COURSE: (3-4 HOURS)
Concealed Carry and Home Defense Fundamentals is a comprehensive course for anyone considering owning or carrying a firearm for self-defense. The course is a complete guide to understanding conflict avoidance and situational awareness; home security and home defense; shooting fundamentals; the physiology of violent encounters; the legal aspects of using deadly force (including knowing what to do in the aftermath); and a complete guide on gear, gadgets, and ongoing training.
THE LEGAL USE OF FORCE: (55 MINUTES)
The Legal Use of Force is a shorter course focused on the legal use of force that one has as a civilian. This course will cover a variety of laws, regulations, scenarios, and outcomes that pertain to your need to use force. The instructor will walk each student through the course for 55 minutes.
In this lesson, Michael Martin will cover important legal topics, including the laws governing the legal use of force inside and outside the home. Within this lesson, you’ll get a chance to test what you’ve learned, using several real world scenarios with you as the actor.
VIOLENT ENCOUNTERS AND THE AFTERMATH: (55 MINUTES)
Violent Encounters and the Aftermath is a course focused on scenarios including violence and how to handle the situation. In this course, the instructor will explain the legal side to violent encounters and managing the situation. This course is 55 minutes long in a classroom setting.
This lesson explains what physical and mental reactions may occur when a human undergoes extreme stress, such as during an incident involving deadly force. It also explains what you should do immediately after using force to defend yourself. Also, when law enforcement arrives, it is crucial that you conduct yourself in the correct manner and prepare yourself for the consequences, even when you are in the right.
TRAUMATIC EMERGENCIES: (60 MINUTES)
Traumatic Emergencies is a one hour course focused on preparing you for any traumatic emergency. This course is designed to prepare the average civilian to assess and handle a variety of traumatic experiences. This is a one hour course taught in the classroom. Severe traumatic injuries result from forces as everyday as a serious fall or automobile accident, to forces as unthinkable as a shooting or stabbing as the result of an assault or robbery. This lesson will address the assessment and treatment for a number of trauma emergencies including severe bleeding, a penetrating chest injury, flail chest, severe burns, musculoskeletal trauma (injury to the bones, muscles, ligaments or tendons) and trauma to the head and eye.
MEDICAL EMERGENCIES: (60 MINUTES)
Medical emergencies is a one hour course focused on preparing you for any medical emergencies. This course is also designed to prepare the average civilian to asses and handle medical emergencies, such as gun shot wounds and other bodily injuries. This is a one hour course taught in the classroom.
If you and friends or family were preparing to embark on a hunting trip or a trip to the local gun range, what would your response be if I asked you, “What’s the most likely emergency situation you might have to deal with?” If you said, “A gunshot wound,” you might be surprised to find out that in the United States, you are 1,110 times more likely to find yourself dealing with a stroke, 500 times more likely to find yourself dealing with a cardiac arrest, and tens of thousands of times more likely to find yourself dealing with a diabetic emergency, than you are to find yourself dealing with a gunshot injury. While you should also know how to deal with a gunshot injury (which we addressed in Lesson Two), this lesson will deal with the medical emergencies mentioned above, and many others.
